Golem is a Tier 4 Raid Boss in Pokemon GO, with Boss CP of all future generations, it can deal a serious amount of damage when it's super effective.

You just need to know which types to stay away from and you'll be fine. While Golem doesn't learn Rock Slide on its own, you can and should use TM 48 to teach it this powerful technique. On the other hand, moves like Earthquake and Dig are super-effective against Fire, Electric, Poison and even fellow Rock types. But Golem's meanest and certainly most reliable technique is Self Destruct which you should later replace with Explosion. Use Explosion when your Golem is low on HP or when you're battling a trainer who relies heavily on Mewtwo or similar super-stars. Fire Blast can come in very handy when facing Grass types.
Wild Charge makes Alolan Golem the second best non-legendary Electric attacker behind Jolteon, which doesn't say much because Raikou is way better. However, it's good enough to be usable, unlike Kantonian Golem as a Ground attacker, which is not viable. Rock Throw is the superior choice, with a greater emphasis on raw damage output than energy generation. Volt Switch is a horrible move for PvP. Rock Blast is slightly more favorable than Stone Edge due to its lower energy cost which also allows shield-baiting, even though Stone Edge has a much higher DPE rating. Alolan Golem has the same problems in Ultra League as it did in Great League, but unfortunately many popular Pokemon in Ultra League also dispatch Alolan Golem very easily, which makes it difficult to use in general. If you're looking at open Ultra League, consider other Pokemon instead.
So if offense is the only thing which could make Golem now redeemable with the CP change, how good is he on offense? If it is, which one would you level? This is the best move for offense since its effective against Dragonite, Lapras, 2x vs Charizard but Golem is weak to ice and dragon moves so he is not very usefull. He is now CP lvl 30 but i still dont like it. Slow to attack and not very good.
