But some of us are hopeful there are still huge leaps to be made in the management of large organizations. What do you think: do managers matter?

Because a manager can profit both from the ideas and from the discipline of mind by which they are formulated. But does anyone read his works? More important, ought they? More important still, what will they gain if they do? One can learn far more deeply from watching Drucker think, says Kantrow, than from studying the content of his thought. One can learn more—and more deeply—from observing the discipline of his mind than from studying the content of his thought.
