Last year I made an effort to read a few books on Hinduism and cultural stories and in turn I discovered how much I missed reading and learning. One of the best gifts I could give her would be to recognize the power of prayer, not just the routine of it and I hope to do so by empowering her with the answers she seeks. Therefore, one of my intentions this year is to read more and grow spiritually. Disclaimer I am open to teaching my daughter about all religions, however as we are raising her with the Hindu faith, I wanted to share some resources for other parents doing the same.

Since its beginning, Hinduism has been a religion based on philosophical debate and truth-seeking; nothing is outside the confines of discussion. This is why you can an overwhelming amount of scriptures written on many different spiritual subjects: from meditation and enlightenment to stories of Shiva, even atheism…no rock was left unturned. Hinduism is a unique religion from almost all possible perspectives. It is characterized by a wide variety of ideas and diverse practices. This lack of uniformity makes Hinduism at once an attractive subject of study and quite difficult to understand. What are the fundamentals of this "universal" religion or "way of life"?
